Christopher J. Buzzell of Buzzell Films conducted auditions for The 48 Hour Film Project in Portland, Maine. The auditions were held at the Maine Film Studio owned by Laurie E. Notch & John E. Seymore from Wasted Minds Media Group. Professional actresses Laurel Wiley and Deme Lane were on hand to read with the auditioning actors. Richard Pelletier from Real Media Solutions operated the camera, Lauren Harkins and Abbey Gleslick worked as casting assistants. Caron Bryan from Port City Models and Talent was on hand with represented talent as well as scouting for new talent. Sadly, Heather Sampson the wife of Christopher J. Buzzell passed away today from Cystic Fibrosis in a Los Angeles hospital. They were married on the Las Vegas strip on June 10, 2001. Words cannot describe what Buzzell is going through. Heather worked as a casting director for Vegas Casting and Vegas Background. She was also the Sr. Vice President for The Christopher Buzzell Entertainment Group (CBEG). But more importantly she was an author that just finished the 3rd draft of One Life, a biography which is the story of one woman’s struggle with cystic fibrosis and how the disease shaped not only the key moments in her life, but also her perspective on love, friendships, family and life in general. Buzzell will continue to work on One Life in hopes to have it published one day. He will also work on One Life the film, which will be based on the book. | April 19, 2009 – 48 Hour Film Project Film Blackout |

At the last minute on Saturday night Christopher J. Buzzell joined the team of Too Smart Guys that drove in all the way from Wyoming as leading man and associate producer. The team is director/producer Peter Hickerson, writer Geoff O’Gara, and cinematographer/producer Patrick Lawson. The beautiful leading woman is Nelle Olivier. The film also features Brian H. Scott. Since Buzzell was working late on Saturday for Miss USA 2009, the team didn’t start shooting until midnight. They worked the cameras with locations in Centennial Hills and downtown Las Vegas. They finally wrapped shooting around 2pm on Sunday, leaving only four hours for postproduction. Even though the film needs more work in post, it turned out pretty good considering the 19-hour schedule. Even if the film is considered horrible, the amount of laughter makes up for it. Buzzell said that this team is amazing and he would love to work with them again. He also looks forward to viewing the final cut of Blackout when it is ready. Click the photo for more information. |

Having lived in Las Vegas for 9 years, Buzzell said that seeing a casino in the middle of the woods was a bit surreal at first. But then again so is seeing one in the middle of the desert.
